My name is “frustrated” (privacy). I am 40 years old and have had 5 children. I have a fairly active lifestyle and recently as of 4/22/07 begin working out at a gym 4-5 days a week. I am 67 inches tall and weigh 245 pounds. I have a large frame. I don’t drink and I don’t smoke. I drink about 3 liters of water a day, and began keeping a food journal on 4/25/07. I eat 5 relatively small meals a day, and a regular dinner.. I try to bring most of my snacks, and eat healthy for lunch, such as a 6 inch ham or turkey sub on whole wheat. I bring nuts, fruits, cheese, kashi bars, melons and such for snacks. I only drink diet soda, if I even have soda.
I eat a power bar or drink chocolate milk after my workouts.
My fat loss routine is : warm up on treadmill for 10 minutes, 3 leg machines, 5 arm/chest machines and the ab machine. This takes me about 30-40 minutes. I do two sets of 12 reps. I have steadily increased my weight, and went from one rep to two reps on each machine. Then I use some cardio machine, treadmill, arc trainer or stationary bike for an additional 30 minutes.
I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, and am currently on synthroid, and my physician says my levels are good at this time. I go every three months for monitoring.
SO>…here’s my dilemma…. I have gained increased energy, I sleep better, I can go longer and do my workout better, and I have lost 4 inches overall…but I haven’t lost even ONE pound.
I am frustrated, because I work so hard. I constantly read Oxygen, and scour the internet for good ways to exercise and eat healthy. I take vitamins daily and drink water.
What am I doing wrong??? Am I just not giving it enough time for me to see some results?

Hi “Frustrated”, I just got this same type of letter from a girl the other day. It’s a tuff one for me to help out on though because I can never get the details I need to make an accurate opinion on what might be the problem.
When I don’t know your full exercise history or exactly what goes into your mouth on a daily basis and at what times, giving you my opinion as to what needs changing to create fat loss might actually be the wrong opinion!
This is the whole reason I created the fat to fit program. So that I could know exactly what people were doing and then if a problem came up, I would know what needed to be changed to encourage outrageous results for the future.
The funny thing is that once people get on the program, I stop getting questions!
Imagine if you knew for a fact you where eating exactly what you were supposed to at the exact times. Ever wonder if you are doing the right exercises and in the right way? I hear story after story of folks that appear to be doing everything right on for fat loss on paper, yet nothing happens.
I had a another girl in the other day for a consultation who was baffled with her lack of results on her currant fat loss program. I asked her a few questions and explained some of the elements of the Fat to Fit Program to her. I looked at her after my blurb and she suddenly smiled. She had always wondered why she seemed to lack energy when it came to the weight training and was not showing any fat loss from her previous routine. She made a couple small changes and I got her on the fat to fit program and she doesn’t have to wonder any more about how to create her own success story.
