Hindu Pushups Exercise

Used In Mixed Martial Arts And Military Conditioning - Hindu Pushups

Assume the regular pushup position but with a slightly wider foot position hindu pushups.

Jack your butt up like your were in downward dog or making a triangle out of your body.

I'm thinking that was the part that put the "Hindu" into the "pushup"

From here you swoop in on an almost 45 degree angle and move into upward dog "hindu".

From this bottom position of the hindu pushup you raise your butt right back into the starting position of the hindu pushup.

The cool thing about hindu pushups is that you don't get that "ping" in your shoulder like you do with regular pushups when you jam your elbows out and too high. You also develop better coordination and flexibility to use your strength with doing this version. Over time the way that you push your hips down start to open them up allowing "better" (higher?) kicks and bridges too. Higher isn't better, but lets not get into that here!

You can do hindu pushups fast for conditioning or slow with pauses to make it more "yogic" to work on the static flexibility.

If any of that was confusing, check out the video of my version of hindu pushups.
