Nutrition Habit 1. Make a change when you are ready- The only way to be successful
is for you to make the choice to be successful. Listening to health practitioners,
family and friends can only help you to realize your problem; it is you that
has to make that change.
Nutrition Habit 2. Reality check- Do you really need to loose weight? Is it
something that you would like to do for cosmetic reasons or is it something
that is adversely affecting your health.
Nutrition Habit 3. Set goals- the number one reason people fail or fall off
the wagon is they have not put pen to paper. Set out what you would like to
accomplish out on paper and set the goals above what you think that you can
achieve; you may surprise yourself in the long run.
Nutrition Habit 4. Keep a dairy- If you write down what you are eating along
with how much and when, you will be able to get a lot of information out of
this exercise.
Nutrition Habit 5. Pat yourself on the back- look for your strengths in your
eating habits. By looking at your strengths it will be easier to identify your
shortcomings.
Nutrition Habit 6. Identify your eating profile- Are you a carb addict, or
a meat lover, or a veg-head? What kinds of foods tickle your fancy and why?
Nutrition Habit 7. Listen to your body- Allow your body to tell you what it
needs with a note of caution; beware the trigger eating. Learn to differentiate
between head and body hunger, and be aware of emotional eating habits.
Nutrition Habit 8. Two heads are better than one- Find a support person or
group. This is especially helpful to those who are easily discouraged. Having
someone who is on your side can be the difference between success and failure.
Nutrition Habit 9. Give yourself a break- Those extra pounds didn't come on
overnight, so don't expect them to come off that way either. Small steps are
the key to success, so don't beat yourself up over small failures; learn from
them and get back on track.
Nutrition Habit 10. GOYA!- Get Off Your A**!!! Exercise is an essential part
of any weight loss program. Go into a gym with personal trainers on staff. Their
expertise will help you to get into activity without the major aches and pains
that most people endure when they go into exercise without professional help.
If a little is good than a lot is better, is a mentality that contributes to
the high attrition rates of beginners.
