Just wanted to write a few things down about my bootcamp journey with Commando Cardio and Ray Burton. I started bootcamp 2 1/2 months ago and was very nervous as I had never attempted anything like this before in my 40 + years. I should also mention that I have moderate -severe chronic asthma. On the first night I could do 21 squats in 1 minute, couldn't do a proper sit-up to save my life(but Ray started me out with crunches!), and maybe I could push through 10 female sit-ups. Another measure of my fitness, or lack there of was my ability to make it up the Edworthy hill in approx. 6 minutes with some help at the end. Now, I am proud to say, I can do 55 squats in 1 minute, 36 male push-ups in 1 minute and I made it up that hill yesterday in 3 min. 30 sec. without any help!!! I have lost 20 pounds and many inches. Still more to go, but what a great start! My cardio fitness isn't where I want it to be, but I am able to run with the group for so much longer than before! I am so thankful to have Ray as my leader through this journey. He is there along side all of us; and knows when to push and when to offer alternatives. He not only talks the talk, but walks the walk. He does all the exercises right along with us! That is such great motivation! What is also great is that no one gets left behind--ever; we perform as a group and with that group mentality comes so much needed encouragement when you don't think you have it in you. Every single day at bootcamp is different so I never get bored. I am not sure how he comes up with all the different exercises, but I am glad that he does. I have come so far in 2 1/2 months-I can't wait to see where he will take me in months and years to come. It isn't about the final destination, but about the journey. I walk straighter, have so much more confidence in all areas of my life because of this, and I have decreased my asthma medication by half. I almost forgot to mention to you that when I was at the doctors for the biopsy, she looked over blood work that was done in February and recently and I have decreased precursors for stroke and type 1 diabetes. Yeah-I have chcanged the path of my life because of your help! Both are because of better diet, weight loss, and you baby!!! Commando Cardio Bootcamp works on many levels! The hardest part of the whole journey was getting up the nerve to get off the couch. I'm not saying that bootcamp is easy, because it isn't; but it is very rewarding to say the least! In no other program have I achieved even half the amount
of success I have in yours. This has also motivated me
in the other various aspects of my life. To date since I've
started I have lost 20lbs of fat, I put on 13lbs of
muscle, and I'm down to a 36/38 regular fit jeans
from a 42 relaxed fit and my body fat percentage has
dropped from 23% to 18%. |

" My metabolism "flipped" and I could feel it happen.
I immediately started losing weight fast, for me it was steady at 2lbs per
week and now I have lost over 60 pounds and am still going strong. I started
at 254 pounds and now am down to 194 pounds and can lift more in my workouts, go longer
and feel great! |

Hello Ray: |

Because we never do the same thing twice but we always work these areas so you can get better and better each time out.
Our outdoor boot camp workouts include running, pushups, situps, bench dips and jumping jacks.
Those are the basics. There just may be some sprints and lunges or maybe even
burpees! The program is designed to take into account different levels of
fitness and burns fat while developing strength and fitness that can be used
in the real world.
Don't Worry If You Can't Do Something There are lots of people that can't do pushups. I'll take care of you and offer a variation so that you get the workout you need.
ATTENTION: You must not have an injury that would prevent you from at least light jogging to participate in our Alberta Boot Camps
No two classes are the same..I teach on the fly. If it looks like something is digging in nice, I just might hammer on it. If someone makes a body part suggestion..it will be sore the next day.
Why do we do it?
Because we can, and that's the best reason.
Laugh at life, Play if you want to, Live like its your last day.
The attitude is...its better to wear out than rust out..
Calgary boot camp instructors need to bring whatever measures are deemed necessary to clients in order to make them fit, people want to slack by nature but you wont be allowed to do that here. Commando Cardio puts the "abs" in absolute fitness. Results come so fast that a whiplash warning is in effect. Our t-shirts say "Sweat is the tears of dying fat"
Fitness training is about effort mixed with fun.
If you want fast results and are willing to put in the effort, this is where you need to be.
Serving
three years with the Canadian Infantry and a tour of duty in Bosnia is the
back ground information I used to form Commando Cardio. Two peacekeeping medals
and two awards for most physically fit infantryman prove the effectiveness
of the Boot Camp style workouts. Effort equals results.

Bring It On!! By Scott Pook I have known Ray through circle of friends for a many years and he was always telling me to come work out with him. I finally got up the nerve and joined his Boot Camp in June 2009. I did his camp for 4 months and saw so many results in such a short time. While I have always been an active guy and have done various sports my whole life I was not int the shape I was years ago. I was for sure dreading the first class as I had not done anything for many years and knew that I was about to have my butt handed to me on platter. Yes it was handed to me a few times ok many times. I had issues walking the next day and I hurt in places I never new existed but it was a good hurt as I knew my body was getting the work out it so much desired and needed. I feeling like the old healthy me again and I loved it. Ray and the other boot camp members inspired and pushed me to do whatever was thrown at me. Sometimes excelling, sometimes stumbling and sometimes making me think WOW I never knew I had that in me (the grueling 7.5 km run with all the fun stuff in between). I noticed my body getting definiton qucikly, felt stronger and I noticed my lung capacity becoming larger as the classes went on. Ray made working out fun and exciting each session which was a big thing for me as I hate the gym atmosphere. I always looked forward to Mon and Thurs as I knew I was going to work out and push myself to better my body and health level. I would highly recommend Rays Boot Camp to anyone who needs that extra push by someone who may be hard at times but he does it cause he wants you to succeed and become the best you can be. I am dreading but excited for class to start in April as I have totally let winter take the best of me. In April I am turning 40 and I want to be in the best shape of my life in my 40s. So here I come BURPIES, 30-30-30 and all the other fun stuff Ray has in store for us. There will be no "gopher holes" for this guy this year. |

AMAZING! By Christine Noble I (unfortunately) could only do this camp for one month due to me moving out of province. I did it in the summer and it was AMAZING! I plateaued with my weight loss and really needed a kick in the butt. At the end of just one month my fitness levels improved a lot and I lost a few pounds and major inches in just one month. If you need a major boost with your fitness you must sign up! Ray will kick your butt into shape! I only wish there was something like this in Saskatoon :( |
